Spreading the “Sweet” News of Jesus
by Sandy Smith

I believe this ministry was launched in part because of something I experienced years ago. My children and I had just moved to Florida and we were visiting the First Baptist Church on a Sunday morning. On the afternoon of that same Sunday a lady from the church stopped by with a hot apple pie. Just a simple “Welcome!” was extended– no high pressure and I have never forgotten how that made me feel. Now I know why God has kept that memory so close to my heart.
MBC Loudoun’s Baking Outreach Ministry has delivered many trays of home baked goods for several months now. This past month we delivered 8 trays of homemade goodies to the different offices at the Inova Loudoun Medical Center Clinic telling them we wanted to share Christ’s love with them. At one office we met a receptionist, Judy, who was new to the area– she just moved here from South Carolina. After we mentioned we were from McLean Bible Church’s Loudoun campus, she shared with us she was seeking a church in this area. She mentioned she had several children and was very interested in checking us out! She also shared with us her mother, Jenna, is dying of leukemia and that her mother’s wish was for them to attend a church. Can you be with us in prayer for Judy, her children and her mother Jenna? Pray that the Lord will give them wisdom and guidance through these tough days ahead of them .
Also pray for this ministry that lives can be changed by Christ’s love shown through the gift of homemade goodies!
