Everyone Is on a Spiritual Journey

Do you believe that? I do. I believe that God being the creator of all mankind created us with a spiritual component and dimension. However, due to the sin nature inherited by all men and women through the Fall we are spiritually dead apart from the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is only through the redemption offered to us in Jesus that we are able to be made spiritually alive.

There are close to 7 billion people in the world today. That is 7,000,000,000 people. Many who have never heard the good news of Jesus Christ.

As followers of Jesus, we are called and commanded to be ambassadors for Christ to the whole world. This includes sharing this hopeful message with people in other countries, in our country, in our workplaces, in our neighborhood, with friends, and with our family.

Romans 10:13-15 says,

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

We need to take seriously the charge to tell the message of the gospel to the world, because without hearing there is no believing and without believing there is no salvation.

Recently, I have challenged all of our small group leaders to lead their groups through a 7-week mini-study (10 minutes each week) called Cojourners. It focuses on how to walk with someone on their spiritual journey in order to point them to the gloriousness of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

If every group goes through this then there will be 150-200 people who will be more adequately trained to share the gospel with those that do not yet know Jesus Christ. This is exciting to me!

I hope that you would also consider growing in your ability and comfort of sharing the gospel as an ambassador for Jesus. This is not the job of the pastors or church staff. It is the privilege of all who are true followers of Jesus.

Remember, how will they believe in him whom they have never heard?

***Quick reminder: take the opportunity to invite a friend to come to church with you on Easter and then talk with them about what they heard.
