Recently I had the opportunity to serve with three MBC Loudoun volunteers at one of the Good Shepherd Alliance’s women and children’s shelters in Lucketts, VA. We spent the morning raking leaves, picking up fallen tree branches and doing general yard maintenance. The weather was perfect and we had a great time getting to know each other better and having the opportunity to show the love of Christ to a really wonderful organization.
There are several opportunities to help serve the Good Shepherd Alliance. These include:

  • Every 3 months a group of MBC Loudoun volunteers goes to the shelter to assist them with their Campfire program – an opportunity to provide dinner for the families at the shelter and to play games with the kids. This event is a great way to offer encouragement to the women who reside at the shelter and to be a ‘Big Brother / Big Sister’ to the kids.
  • This month, MBC Loudoun is collecting donations from its congregation to help re-stock the GSA with supplies they use on a daily basis.
  • Yard work in the spring time is a huge job as many tree limbs and an abundance of leaves from the fall/winter time have fallen making it difficult to mow the lawn.

If you are interested in serving in one of these capacities, visit the Welcome Center at MBC Loudoun directly after each service for more information.
