This year at Beach Week we taught the kids on how they could be spiritually revived (Ps 85:6). We taught on honesty, biblical repentance, pride, and obedience. We prayed for this camp and left it in the Lords’ hands. We were willing to take fewer kids this year so we could focus with intentionality on students who wanted to learn what God wanted from them. To our surprise, we ended up with the largest camp we have ever had at MBC!
The biggest concern for us is follow up. We are praying that God allows us to see “fruit that lasts” as Jesus said. We have started a new discipleship program where we contact kids by Facebook and provide daily encouragement and homework for 30 days. We also had twelve former students from the ministry come as counselors this year. They are the best example that God does bring lasting fruit from retreats like this. Another blessing for us was recognizing how diverse our ministry has become. 36 of our students were actually born in other countries.
We are still amazed. The spiritual blessings were beyond our expectations, we prayed for revival in each of their hearts. On the last day of camp right before they board the buses we collected the following data:

  • 439 students camp to camp (up over 50 from last year)
  • 42 students claimed new decisions for Christ
  • 197 students said they recommitted themselves to Christ
  • 225 students signed up for our thirty day follow up “personal trainer” discipleship system (called P30X, like the popular workout series)
  • 50 students attended an optional hour-long Christianity 101 class during free time
  • 77 students who received scholarship funds made one of these spiritual decisions
  • 21 countries from 5 continents were represented within the student population
