Encouraging Stories Of How Christ Impacted Students’ Lives On The Trip:

  • One young man wondered how he could enter heaven on the basis of Matthew 5:20: “Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” He was thinking about Lon Solomon’s previous life … he asked if Lon was perfect. Through scripture he realized… that when Lon put his faith in Christ, he received Christ’s righteousness. He wanted to do the same! After he accepted Christ he breathed a deep sigh of relief knowing that the burden of his sin had been lifted!
  • The worship services had clips from sermons by Louis Giglio on the vastness of God’s creation. He discussed the universe, DNA, and how a baby is formed. A student who had huge self image problems including anorexia had struggled with suicidal thoughts. This student had always struggled with God’s love for her, but after one of the sessions she said her thoughts lifted and she was convinced of God’s love for her.
  • A student who has struggled with drugs in the past and had no spiritual interest at the beginning of the week ended up making a decision for Christ with his leader back in their room after the sermon one night.
  • A student who has been attending for about one year finally gave her heart to the Lord this week. This girl has a single mom and a lot of difficult circumstances. She has been the subject of prayer for the staff
  • One student had been a constant struggle at home and at church. This student made a decision to commit herself to the Lord and has already made changes at home as a result.
  • Many students called home right after the service one night to apologize to parents for past offenses. They wanted to make the first step to building a new relationship with their parents. Other students committed to getting out of ungodly dating relationships and asking forgiveness of others who they had offended.
  • A regular student has been witnessing to a friend at school for at least one year. The friend came to beach week and made a decision for Christ. Both left camp changed and passionate about their relationship to Christ.
