One of the meals during our ORPHANetwork mission trip really impacted me. We were eating a pizza dinner with the kids, and we were each given two pieces. I think most of us on the mission team were so excited to have “back home” type food that we anxiously consumed our pieces.

And then my heart broke….

I looked around, and almost all of the kids had opted to only take a few bites of their pizza, then they carefully covered the rest with extra plates, wrote their names on them, and saved them to take them home to share with their families. These kids rarely get a treat like that and for the most part were probably hungry, but they put their hunger aside so they could share their blessing with their families.

It crushed me. How willing are we to share our blessings? How greedily do we consume what God has blessed us with and not look to our left or right to see a brother or sister in need? I was convicted and ashamed.
