There were so many things that happened on our mission trip with ORPHANetwork that are impressed on my heart! Below are three highlights…
One really cool event was the day we took a group of deaf children to the beach. One of the deaf boys taught one of the girls from the mission team a worship dance to the Lord. It was inspiring to see their not verbally talking but communicating none the less. At the end of the lesson, he tried to witness to her when he asked her if SHE knew Christ!
One day, when we arrived back at the church, we received an undeserved hero’s welcome…kids chasing the bus, yelling and celebrating! Each mission team member on the bus had a kid outside who was specifically searching for them, and when they found him or her, they gave them the warmest welcome smile! It was like God smiling and saying thank you!!
Some of the days, we got to sit with the kids at the feeding center. The center is quite a testimony of what God is doing to care for His orphans. The feeding center started at the Associate Pastor’s house as he and his wife shared what they had with other kids. The numbers grew, so they needed to find another facility and additional help. The church now houses the feeding center, and in a matter of 3 weeks, the number has grown to 130 kids for lunch. Six women prepare the food daily for the kids. God is at work there. You can see it all over the place.
