We just returned from an amazing 8 days serving the people in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic. We took a team of 180 people, with 25 students from Loudoun, about 90 from Tysons, and 50 adults and volunteers. God moved in huge ways. One thing in specific that I love our about missions trips is that we get involved in personal evangelism. We don’t only feed the poor and build and fix things for them, we are passionate about giving the people the message of the Gospel.
As some of you have heard me say before, the people who are most happy in life are those who share their faith regularly. Our students got to experience that joy first hand. One SH girl had never shared her faith before in her life. As we went through one of the villages I challenged one of them to share their faith at a home. She was very timid but came forward and with the power of the Holy Spirit guiding her, she led 4 people to the Lord!!! As we left she could not wipe the smile from her face, and she said to me “I’ve never felt this happy.”
Another Senior High student led a woman to Christ who was selling goods in the market. Same response, a joyful heart that this student could not stop telling everyone on the trip what happened!
This is one of many, where our kids stepped out in faith and planted gospel seed in the Dominican Republic. I encourage you to ask God to give you someone in your life to clearly share this message with. I don’t know about you, but when I stand before the Lord in heaven and I have my bag of Gospel seed that He gave to me on this earth to spread, and He looks at it, I pray that it isn’t full, but almost empty.
