Dominican Republic 2009, Part 4
by Mike Reed, Director of Student Ministries @ MBC Loudoun
God worked on our team:
- One student who came to Christ just this year learned to share his testimony and that prayer is powerful. He had the joy of sharing Christ all week.
- The junior high team pooled their personal money to buy bowls and utensils for a desperately poor nursing home they visited. They also sacrificed their own money to feed the village where one of the new churches has been planted.
- Adult Team Leaders said that often kids were slow boarding the buses, because they didn’t want to stop sharing the gospel with the people they were talking to.
Some comments from Students:
- “I’ve never been so convicted to change my friends back home”
- “I am a 1000 times more comfortable sharing the gospel than I was before coming on this trip”
- “This trip has put life in perspective for me”
- “God taught me patience and sensitivity”
- “When I was holding one of Jackie’s orphans..she fell asleep in my arms…she doesn’t have a father to hold her..I thought if I didn’t have parents to guide me through tough circumstances…”
- One student said the missionaries showed her the passion for Christ she wants in her own life.
- Another student wrote that “I would love if I did something the people of Score or Jackie (who started an orphanage) are doing. This trip was life changing.”
- “While the food will never last, I was reminded this week that the peace and joy of Gods word will.”
