Seek the Approval of One

by Mike Reed, Director of Student Ministries @ MBC Loudoun

A great encouragement for me today I thought would spur you all on as well:

John 12:42 “Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so they would not be put out of the synagogue, for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.”

Who do you desire to please? Your boss? A co-worker? Neighbors? Family? Friends? John brings us a great reminder to not be like the people who sought approval from man rather than the approval that comes from God! One day each of us will stand before God, the Holy and Righteous Judge, not anyone else. You won’t be standing in front of your family, your neighbor, your boss, or your friends. It’s His opinion that matters. When we stop living for the approval of others we can start walking in the spirit in true humility and God can really be glorified through our lives, work, marriage, family and ministry.
