Overcome Evil with Good
by Mike Reed, Director of Student Ministries @ MBC Loudoun
“Overcome evil with good” Romans 12:21. Few statements capture the essence of Jesus so well as this one, and few are as hard to accomplish. No one was ever more unjustly treated than our Savior, because He was perfectly pure and innocent. And, yet when He was reviled, when He was cursed, when He was struck down, He did not seek revenge. He forgave His enemies… from a cross where they had nailed Him.
Who is it that you are harboring bitterness against? Who has wronged you so deeply that you refuse to forgive them? With whom are you angry? Whoever it is, find a way to bless them today. Find some way to give to them. Make a determined effort to say a kind word to them or about them to someone else. Forgive them. Because if you don’t, then you will turn their offense into your curse, and you might as well be the one driving the nails into the cross.
